A Louisiana 2009 Itinerary

March 27th, 2009 by elizabeth

I haven’t been back to Louisiana since May 2008 and I’ve been very much itching to go back this year, at least twice. To jump start my trip down there (and taking a long a friend whom will be introduced to Louisiana for the first time), I’ve set up an itinerary of things I need to attend this year (April 23rd-April 28th):

Possible flight routes:

  • Burbank, California –>Austin, Texas (visit friends) –> drive to Houston, TX –> drive to New Orleans, LA
  • Burbank, California –>Seattle, Wa (visit friends) –>New Orleans, Louisiana
  • Burbank, California –>New Orleans, Louisiana

Hotel: $75 a night studio apartment on Canal Street. (Of note is the Canal Streetcar line that can be taken for $1.25 each way to a variety of places, including the fairgrounds which host the annual spring time Jazz & Heritage Festival)

Rental Car: ~ $100/3 days

Swamp tour: $25

Laura Plantation: $15 (a revisit – there are a few photo opportunities I missed last time)

A walk through the Garden District. I miss the magnolias.

French Quarter Market (revisit)

Jackson Square (revisit)

Eat, drink, and play on Magazine Street

Jax Brewery

Jazz & Heritage Festival (1st weekend): Dave Matthews & Erykah Badu: $40 single day tickets

Ettouffe Festival in Arnaudville, Louisiana: April 24-26 2009

Visitation of Our Lady Cajun Festival: April 24-26, 2009

Mulate’s Restaurant in Beaux Bridge, Louisiana (revisit)

Delacroix Island in St. Bernard Parish

Saint Louis Cemetery #1

Taking my friend to Cafe Du Monde for cafe au lait and beignets.

Nachitoches, Louisiana, if time permits

..more coming!
